WHAT IS FLUENCY?

WHAT IS VARIED APPLICATION?

WHAT IS INTELLIGENT QUESTIONING?

WHAT IS FLUENCY?

FLUENCY is the foundation of understanding allowing pupils to develop their sense of maths across all areas of the curriculum. A growing awareness of a learning objective and how it can be applied across different contexts builds confidence with using maths fluently…

WHAT IS VARIED APPLICATION?

VARIED APPLICATION provides an opportunity for pupils to transfer their FLUENCY skills and understanding across other areas of the curriculum. Varied Application questions extend the curriculum and mathematical minds…

WHAT IS INTELLIGENT QUESTIONING?

INTELLIGENT QUESTIONING offers the ultimate challenge. Pupils will need to master the FLUENCY & VARIED APPLICATION first. A variety of problem solving tasks await to test the deepest levels of understanding…

THE FIRST STAGE OF EACH MISSION IS TO COMPLETE THE DAILY FLUENCY TASK. EACH CORRECT FLUENCY ANSWER COLLECTS 1 MISSION CREDIT

ADD 2 MISSION CREDITS TO YOUR MISSION RECORD FOR A CORRECT VARIED APPLICATION ANSWER…

3 MISSION CREDITS ARE ON OFFER FOR A CORRECT SOLUTION TO THE DAILY iQ PROBLEM…

FLUENCY, VARIED APPLICATION & INTELLIGENT QUESTIONS are grouped together on one easy-to-use resource sheet, which can be displayed on the classroom board or printed out if preferred. These should be issued daily allowing pupils to develop their knowledge, understanding & confidence throughout the mission. This also provides continuous opportunity for intervention and assessment. Award pupils with mission credits for correct answers and solutions to questions. Pupils record the mission credits awarded in the Pupil Mission Credit Record below, which can be used in-line with any school or department reward system.

Pupils maintain their Mission Record collecting credits from mission-to-mission building their total towards the next MyMiniMaths Mission level…

Watch pupil's understanding & confidence grow with each day's task.

WHAT ARE miniMATHS PACKS?...
Created as mini daily tasks at home or in the classroom...
Develop independent learning both in classroom or at home with a daily miniMATHS task.
> 5 daily tasks across the school week provide further support and opportunity for intervention in developing understanding and building confidence.

> miniMATHS PACKS are perfect as a short home learning activity promoting independent learning.

> Days 1 to 3 cover Fluency style questions to give a secure foundation before...

...progressing onto Day 4's Varied Application task...

...and finally, Day 5's iQ activity.

> Daily answers help highlight common misconceptions and individual errors.

> A quick discussion and review of answers in the follow day's lesson helps identify the next steps of learning for the next miniMATHS task in the sequence.

miniMATHS PACKS provide a 5 day miniMATHS pack supporting learning in the classroom. Each day’s mini task is issued for pupils to complete independently in preparation for the following day. Whole class marking provides quick, easy and effective daily assessment using a quick show of hands to gauge levels of understanding and provide the required intervention to the areas of development for groups of children or to individuals. Regular and consistent intervention supports gaps in understanding and application and is actioned with the next day’s mini-MATHS task. The mini-MATHS pack is delivered throughout the week to build pupil understanding and confidence.

Watch pupil's understanding & confidence grow with each day's task.
WHAT ARE MYminiMATHS+ BASE COLOURS?...
The Mathematics National Curriculum is organised into 5 Base Colours...
> Each base colour is differentiated against the expectations of the National Curriculum.

> Base colours are colour coded for easy identification.

> Base colours are colour coded for easy identification.

> The colour coding on resources allows for teachers to discretely issue tasks above and below the current year group to offer opportunities in-line with each pupil's level of ability and understanding.

The table below outlines the expectation of each base colour against the National Curriculum...

GREEN BASE is written in-line with the Year 3 National Curriculum.

PURPLE BASE is written in-line with the Year 4 National Curriculum.

BLUE BASE is written in-line with the Year 5 National Curriculum.

RED BASE is written in-line with the Year 6 National Curriculum.

ORANGE BASE is written in-line with the lower end of the Key Stage 3 National Curriculum targeting Year 7.

WHAT ARE MISSION LEVELS?...
Pupils can progress up the Mission Levels by collecting Mission Credits for correct answers & solutions using any of the tasks above.
